King Knut…

Can anyone recommend a book or site about Knut? Saxon king of England. There’s a story that he came up to Knutsford in Cheshire and spoke to a young woman who was due to be married. Also there’s  the story of him demonstrating to his fawning advisors that he was not omnipotent, by commanding the waves to stay from the shore… he got a bit wet I believe, in  proving his point, but it went down in history.

(Maybe there’s a bit of research to be done on wet moments in history… remember Sir Walter Raleigh and the puddle? Was Edward Lonshanks the Doctor Foster that went to Gloucester and fell into as puddle? But, I digress…)

I’m toying with the idea of some artwork/fibre art pins on a Saxon theme and Knut seems a good place to start.
