I’m making a new book for Ten Plus Textiles’ exhibitions… we have the books on a table display at each exhibition and they’re filled with samples of members’ work. Visitors are invited to touch and explore the samples and they make for a colourful collection in their own right.
Here’s a glimpse of one of the older ones, (getting a bit tatty now!)…
The binding is chain stitched and it makes for a decorative but flexible ‘spine’.
One of Mabel Gandy’s pages.
The new book is in process. Boards laminated, covers and pages painted, boards covered and samples are being collected. I’ve dyed some strong cotton thread for the binding, but I’ve yet to prepare the decorative support strips for the pages, which I glue to the side of the page that will be bound into the spine. A job for this afternoon methinks!
